CareTaskNest has four parts: free tools, printable templates, guides and a family care planner. You can use the first three without an account. The planner is for families who want to share tasks, a calendar and visit notes. This page explains how each part works and what happens to the information you enter.
1. Free tools that stay in your browser
The free tools are small web apps that run entirely in your browser:
- Home care cost calculator
- Caregiver daily log generator
- Weekly care schedule builder
- Senior emergency information sheet
- Home safety checklist
When you type into a tool, your entries are saved in your browser's local storage on that device. They are not sent to our server. This means:
- you can come back later on the same device and browser and pick up where you left off;
- your entries will not appear on another device;
- clearing your browser data, or using a private window, will remove them.
You can print each result or save it as a PDF with your browser's print function.
2. Printable templates
We publish 10 printable templates, including daily care logs, contact sheets and medication lists. Each template can be:
- filled in on screen and then printed or saved as a PDF; or
- printed blank to fill in by hand.
Templates come in A4 and US Letter sizes. Choose the size that matches your paper.
3. Guides
Our guides explain practical topics such as arranging in-home help, planning respite or preparing for a hospital discharge. Each guide:
- is written by the CareTaskNest Editorial Team;
- cites its sources, preferring government agencies, health services and established nonprofits;
- shows the date it was last reviewed.
Guides are currently available in English, in US and UK editions. They provide general information, not medical, legal or financial advice. Read more in our editorial policy.
4. The family care planner
The planner is where a family coordinates. It needs a free account.
Care spaces
Everything in the planner lives in a care space, which represents one household or one person being cared for. You can belong to more than one care space, for example one for each parent.
Tasks
Tasks are the things that need doing: collect a prescription, call the insurer, change the bed linen. For each task you can:
- assign it to one or more people;
- set a due date and time;
- make it repeat (for example daily, weekly or monthly);
- add notes;
- see its history, including who completed it and when.
Calendar
The calendar shows tasks and events by day, week or month. Each care space has its own household time zone, so a 9 a.m. visit appears at the right time even if a sibling is checking from another state or country.
Visit reports
After a visit, anyone with the right role can write a short report: how the person seemed, what was done, anything to follow up. When you write a report you choose who can see it:
- Everyone in the care space; or
- Owners and administrators only, for more sensitive notes.
Inviting people and roles
You invite people with a single-use link that expires after 7 days. Each person gets a role:
- Owner – full control, including care space settings and deleting the care space.
- Administrator – manages members, tasks and settings.
- Family member – creates and completes tasks, writes visit reports.
- Caregiver – sees and completes assigned work, writes visit reports.
- Read-only viewer – can look but not change anything.
The help center explains each step.
Plans
There is a free plan. Paid plans (Family and Family Plus) are planned, but online payments are not live yet, so they cannot be purchased today.

What CareTaskNest does not do
CareTaskNest does not give medical advice, check medication doses or monitor anyone's health. Reminders depend on people opening the app and on your device and connection working. Do not rely on CareTaskNest for anything where a missed reminder could cause harm without another safeguard. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
